Cardiff By The Sea, more commonly referred to as Cardiff, is a small beach community located in the city of Encinitas. Although Cardiff is located in Encinitas, it has its own zip code. Cardiff was developed in 1911 by Boston developer, Frank Cullen. Rumor has it that Cullen named the community after his wife’s hometown of Cardiff, Wales. With a population of about 12,000 people, Cardiff is a clean, safe, tight-knit community. With a perfect warm climate all year round, the residents take advantage of the beach life in Cardiff.

Some of the restaurants do require a reservation.
