Rancho Santa Fe: The neighborhood that is nearby every desire and Need
Its name means “holy faith,” but the locals just call this census-designated place, “The Ranch.” There may only be 3,117 people in 2010, but this small neighborhood is where people with the highest incomes per capita live. According to Forbes in 2011, this area was No. 14 as being one of the most expensive zip codes in the United States and the fourth most expensive zip code in California. In 2007, it was the most expensive zip code in California. This area also has the highest percentage of million-dollar houses in 2012, according to CNN.
Some homes are outside the CDP and the master planned community; the value of these houses is more than those inside the CDP because it exceeds the median value of houses in the area. Additionally, there are many people who live in 92067 zip code without living in the inside the master planned community named “The Covenant” of Rancho Santa Fe.

This area of several blocks has some of the best schools in the area. Parents who have children in elementary to middle school may love the convenience of having their children attend one school through eighth grade at R. Roger Rowe Rancho Santa Fe public high schools, for older teenagers. There are also a number of private schools in the area, including Horizon Preparatory, the Nativity School, and Diegueno County School.
Schools are close to some of the gated communities in Rancho Santa Fe, so students can walk to classes. Some of the gated communities, such as Rancho Santa Fe Groves havean orange grove in the gated community. The Rancho Santa Fe Library is nearby for students who need reference materials for school projects and the Rancho Santa Fe Guild owns the building.
What notable activities are there for families to enjoy in Rancho Santa Fe? The area is home to the San Elijo lagoon and Wildlife Preserve. Families, couples, and singles can take on a game at Qualcomm Stadium. For those who play golf or tennis, the Rancho Santa Fe Club offers exceptional facilities and a well-designed golf course. Residents are only a short drive from the Del Mar beaches, and it is fun to watch for whales. It also is a very low crime area, so parents do not need to worry about violence in this area. Rancho Santa Fe’s crime rating is 76 percent lower than the state average and Rancho Santa Fe was ranked safer than 87 percent of the cities in the United States. It also had an estimated 739 crimes, of which 673 were property damage. Only 67 crimes were related to theft and the chances of being a victim of crime are one out of 136 in this area. The low crime rate and the fact the area have a number of grocery stores, such as Ralph’s, Whole Food Market, Stumps Village Market, and Sprouts Farmers Market makes it an ideal place to live.

Rancho Santa Fe began as part of a Mexican land grant in 1836. It really became a popular place to visit and live in 1936, after Bing Crosby bought Osuna Ranch. A number of celebrities came to Crosby’s Ranch and enjoyed golf tournaments at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Course. Crosby is not the only famous face that has enjoyed the many pleasures of the area.
Notable celebrities that have or are living in the area include Janet Jackson, Geena Davis, Jenny Craig, Jewel, Bear Grylls, Shaun White, Mike Love, Richard Jefferson, Glen Bell, Howard Hughes, Lon Chaney Jr., Douglas Fairbanks, and Joan Kroc. Politicians to movie stars of the past have called Rancho Santa Fe home. Spouses of franchisees, etc., have also called this community home. Its location, close to everything and having some of the best million-dollar homes in the area, makes it an ideal place to live. With its rich history all around, it is little surprise that in 1989, Rancho Santa Fe was designated as an historical landmark.
Many do not realize this area is where homeowners may see Fairbanks Ranch, a part of Rancho Santa Fe. However, it is also home to the popular planned master community, “The Covenant.” Rancho Santa Fe has long been a popular community to live and visit, long before Bing Crosby. Douglas Fairbanks and his wife, Mary Pickford, often invited guests to their Fairbanks Ranch for some quiet relaxation in the 1920s. With so much to do around Rancho Santa Fe, the area is a gem and offers all the tranquility needed or wanted.
