Many restaurants have a variety of dishes that range from something as straightforward as grub food (think nachos, wings, etc.) to more high-end dishes that might be a bit too pricey for some – these are your special cuts of certain meats, seafood, and so on.
As a rural city, you would imagine that Poway has some kind of exhibit that celebrates the old Western life of a cowboy. You’re in luck, because the city’s own Poway Rodeo does just that! You can ride on a mechanical bull and see if you can beat the city’s record for staying on for as long as possible. You can also join in on some of the dance classes that teaches you how to get your groove on Rodeo-style. If you show up at the right time, you might even catch a local band or two playing their gig.

If you were to explore one attraction in the city and one attraction only, make sure that it is the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. Why? It is a 700-acre canyon that offers much to do in the range of observing some rare species of wildlife in their natural habitat along with some night-time activities. If you don’t like wild animals, you can choose to go on one of the many hiking trails that they have instead. This is a great option for families who want to provide their kids with a new experience that beats out the typical entertainment they are used to having.
EXPLORING THE OUTDOORS
San Diego is especially famous for its many smaller cities that happen to be located along the beautiful beachside. Unfortunately, Poway is not able to provide that same benefit to its citizens. With that being said, there are a number of outdoor parks that are publicly available to the community. A great park that we would highly recommend checking out is the Veteran’s Park. It serves as a longstanding tribute to those in the army that have given up their lives over the years so that people can enjoy the freedoms they have today. Visitors can enjoy a great outdoor view while learning more about the history of the Unites States and its involvement in several wars.
If you are an outdoor person who prefers some rush of adrenaline and fatigue, the outdoor hiking trails are a great way to get that fix you have been looking for. Each of them come in a range of difficulties to welcome those of all fitness levels. Some of the trails can be rather steep, so you would be well advised to travel with the friend for safety measures. Rules and guidelines are provided for everybody who chooses to embark on these paths before the trail itself begins.
These are just small samples of the many trails and parks that are available in Poway. Feel free to ask locals for their recommendations on the best trails and parks in the city!
