Cardiff was developed in 1911 by Boston developer, Frank Cullen. Rumor has it that Cullen named the community after his wife’s hometown of Cardiff, Wales. One of the most popular areas in Cardiff is Restaurant Row, which is conveniently located on Hwy 101, just above the beach and just south of the San Elijo Lagoon river mouth. Restaurant Row is home of several fine dining restaurants. The restaurants feature Mexican, Italian, Vegetarian, and California cuisine with an emphasis on seafood, so there’s something for everyone! Some of the restaurants do require a reservation.
